3. Who is your favorite author and is your writing style similar to theirs?

My favorite author is Carson McCullers.  She, more than any writer I have read, knew and communicated just how lonely a hunter the heart can be.  Of course, like you, I grew up at CHS under her shadow.  One of her English teachers was still teaching while I was there.

I've not thought of my style of writing as being similar to anyone else in particular, but certainly not McCullers'.  I will be content to let others figure that one out if they are so inclined.  I will say, however, that I have long admired Hemingway's terse yet powerful words, and today I marvel at the word craftsmanship of Terry Kay, a writer who lives here in Athens.

Never try to write like anyone else.  Don't even try to write like you did yesterday.  Just write.
